Darwin House Charity Week 2018: Just a Minute and More!
It simply wouldn’t be a Bournemouth School year without the spattering of charity events to break up what can be a monotonous academic year. Darwin can almost always be relied on to give the new year an exciting and charitable start, with a variety of fundraising activities, and this year will be no different.
This year Darwin are supporting ‘Stem4’, a charity focusing on the mental health of young people, an incredibly important and pertinent issue. Money raised will support Stem4 providing counselling services as well as raising awareness of mental health, allowing people to break through the stigma attached to finding help.
The main event is ‘Just A Minute’ inspired, and will be running on Thursday the 1st in the Lecture Theater. The event will see Bonds chairing the frantic battle between two formidable duos. The first consisting of Mr Leigh and Mr Worden, and the second Sean ‘the lisp’ Cooney and Mr Rixon. It’s certainly a clash of the titans and not something you will want to miss. Entrance will cost £1 and the event begins at 12:45 sharpish, the event is predicted to be popular so if you want a seat you better be willing to fight tooth and claw for it. If you believe you have a topic worth articulating without hesitation, deviation or repetition, please contact Aaroh ([email protected]) and they will pick the best on the day.
As per usual Darwin will be running a raffle as well as a cake sale. The cake sale will be running on Tuesday break time in the old gym. If you are feeling particularly charitable and involved, contributions to both the raffle as well as the cake sale will be welcome, providing ample opportunity for you to prove your ( your mother’s or the supermarket’s) baking prowess.
The staple year 7 and 8 disco will also be returning this year. Promising nothing less than a sugar rush and the latest hits, tickets are available for £3.50 from reception. It’s open to both the boys and girls school and is guaranteed to be a good night, so don’t miss out on the opportunity.
‘Just A Minute’ will be a unique event heralding a return to the old days of large-scale school charity events and you are unlikely to see men of this calibre competing against another any time soon and we urge to support Darwin house charity in any way that you can!
