New Humanities Society (HuSoc) Launches
As some may recollect, there have been several different Humanities Societies launched in the school throughout the years, each with a different goal or aim. From the ethics in movies (most notably star wars) to this new society which broadens horizons as to what goes on in the countries around our world.
Having attended a session this Monday lunchtime (starting at 12:45), the detail that goes into the discovery of these places is remarkable. I was lucky enough to be involved in the society’s talk on Egypt, starting with the embalming process and ending with a clever game of ‘pin the cairo on the egypt’, in which several members of the society attempted, with little success, to plunge the whiteboard marker in use into the correct spot on the map. A heated debate started as to whether the dot should be placed to the left or the right of the River Nile, eventually discovering the correct place was in fact above the river.
If you are craving an increase to your cultural knowledge of the many civilizations that have cropped up around the world, or just looking for a casual UCAS booster, this is certainly the society for you.
The society meets weekly at 12.45 on a monday. For the next session on the 11/12/17, it will be taking place in the drama studio.
