PolSoc Returns 26/9!
Politics Society, beloved by many, will be returning to action on the 26th of September at 12:45 in the Drama Studio. The Society will be open to any member of the BS or BSG Sixth Form who has an interest in debating or politics!
A new academic year heralds several key changes to PolSoc, these changes being driven by two established members of the Upper Sixth. The first being Sean ‘Prime minister’ Cooney, who will be the offical head of the society, and the second being the omni-impartial Aaroh Dubey, who will chair the debates and prevent the meetings from descending into unorganised chaos. The change of venue may have attracted the attention of many of those who attended last year however this isn’t without good cause. Sean Cooney explained to The Bournemouthian that this was to produce a more adversarial debate, with each opposing side facing another like in Parliament.
The topics will vary from week to week, with the first one most likely to focus on the recently passed European Union (Withdrawal) Bill and the possible issues or merits with such a piece of legislation. Anyone who has any ideas for debates should contact Sean or Aaroh so that it can be tabled onto the agenda.
