Splat the Teacher (and George Wright)
This week, students have been offered the opportunity to launch wet sponges or custard pies at their teachers in aid of ‘Vision for Vincent’ – a charity to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust to help set up a teenage cancer ward at Poole Hospital.
The event proved popular with both students and staff and saw long queues forming into the east quad. Today (Thursday) saw Headmaster Dr. Lewis and deputy Mr. Anderson in the stocks. Students opting for wet sponges take careful aim, before hurling them towards the teachers. Those paying a premium for a custard pie, however, are able to shove them directly into the faces of their superiors.
The teachers have promised to bear no grudges, but any students who do should make sure to be at the quad during lunch time.
Tomorrow, Mr Beal, Mr Graham, and Year 12 student George Wright will all be taking part in what will be the grand finale of ‘Splat the Teacher (and George Wright)’. Those wanting to pillory their teachers (and George Wright), should bring in cash. Each custard pie costs £2.50, and £1 buys 3 wet sponges.
The event raised £605.29 for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Note: Originally, only Mr. Beal and Mr. Graham were taking part on Friday, but Year 12 student George Wright volunteered to take part also. Consequently, tomorrow’s event is expected to be particularly popular.
