The Bournemouthian: Old Magazine Editions
The magazine incarnation of The Bournemouthian died at the very beginning of this millennium. This article looks back at some of the inventive front covers that adorned the old printed issues. The publication began in 1905, but while The Bournemouthian of these stiff-collared, cane-whipping days of our Edwardian ancestors was bereft of images, instead solely documenting awards, sporting achievements and examination results, towards the end of its life, the publication boasted the skills of the artistically-orientated pupils, as well as the journalistically-adventorous. For the magazine’s last decade (the 1990s), somewhat of a tradition arose that yielded some interesting front covers…
